Welcome

Wigginton Pre-School takes children from any religious or cultural background. Children can start from 2 years 6 months after an initial settling in observation. The termly intake will vary according to the number of places available, the maximum being 28 children in the building. Children are required to attend a minimum of 2 sessions per week, increasing term by term subject to availability and we do not provide duo setting provision.

Wigginton Pre-school is open to all, offering a wide range of stimulating activities to enable our children to learn through play. There is a happy, caring atmosphere and every child has a voice which helps them to build their confidence. We place great emphasis on good, considerate behaviour, independence and preparation for big school whilst still having lots of fun.

Wendy Docherty is the SENCo at Wigginton Pre-School, she has trained to a Level 3 through Best Practise and Young in Herts courses in Hertfordshire. Please note we have limited spaces available for children with additional needs due to staff numbers and resources., and these spaces are currently allocated. Please enquire if you would like further information on SEN spaces

We offer our parents extended hours to 2.00pm from Monday - Thursday,  as we have staff meetings & reflection on Friday.  During lunch club children have the opportunity to continue to play until 2.00pm with this in mind all activities are on offer to children but also visits to the park & St Bartholomew's Church, surrounding area and village shop.  We are pleased to team up with additional outside support such as Mini Movers from Challis Dance School and we are thrilled to have our own FOREST SCHOOL teacher.

Daily Routine

  • The morning starts at 9.15 with self-registration along with  free flow play, child's choice and table top activities.
  • At a little after 10.15am we start our rolling snack, where there is plenty of time for a drink and something to eat.  Free flow play will continue alongside the rolling snack.
  • When it is time to tidy up the children will hear a slow beat song which we call 2 minute music then we have “hands up for tidy up” which is indicted by a up-beat song.
  • In the event of very wet weather, we undertake a physical activity indoors, but we do try to play out in the fresh air as much as possible.
  • We end the morning around 12pm with a circle-time activity, story or songs.
  • Children who attend lunch club & extended hours will wash hands before having their lunch.
  • After lunch club children who stay until 2.00 will continue to play in freeflow activities

We have continued to promote some elements of hygiene from the Coronavirus outbreak in 2020, due to the fact the hall is hired out for local groups we complete daily cleaning surfaces where individuals touch, such as door handles & work surfaces.

All visits need to be made in advance to avoid the children getting upset and all visitors will be signed in.
